Constitution Day Lecture - Immigration Executive Orders: Putting our Courts to the Test

Jacqueline B. Martinez is founder of JBM Legal, LLC, a full service law firm dedicated to providing legal representation to the Pittsburgh immigrant community since 2002. Drawing on her extensive experience as an immigration attorney, Martinez will present an overview of the executive orders currently in play, explain how the law applies to the CMU students’ experience, and outline how the courts are dealing with them and Congress rule or acquiescence. The University Libraries' first edition copy of the Bill of Rights will be on display for this event.

 

About the speaker:

Jacqueline B. Martinez is founder of JBM Legal, LLC, a full service law firm dedicated to providing legal representation to the Pittsburgh immigrant community since 2002. Attorney Martinez is a graduate of Cornell University and the Sandra Day O’Connor School of Law at Arizona State University. While Ms. Martinez’s current practice focuses on Business Immigration, she has extensive experience in the area of Employment Based Immigration and Global Immigration Family Immigration, Naturalization, and Deportation and Removal proceedings. Ms. Martinez is currently serving on the Board of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and has been an active member of the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union).
