Reproducibility Hackathon 2024: A Day in Digital Humanities
Are you interested in reproducible research? Or are you interested in engaging with digital humanities research from CMU? CMU Libraries, in partnership with faculty from the Department of English, is hosting a day-long hackathon focused on replicating and augmenting published research in digital humanities from CMU.
The hackathon will be held in person at CMU, March 22, 2024.
Participants will be separated into teams with dedicated team leads. We encourage applications from any interested individuals from CMU and other institutions in the greater Pittsburgh area. (students, staff, and/or faculty). If interested, fill out this brief form. Knowledge and awareness of scientific programming with Python and/or R is desired, but not required for participation. The hackathon is a collaborative, rather than competitive, event, with each team working with data and code produced from the same publication, to reproduce and reuse, exploring new ideas and analyses.
All findings and research outputs such as data, code, and visualization will be shared to a public repository on Open Science Framework. The outputs will be collectively published in an article as either a preprint or on the F1000 hackathon channel.
Applications will close on March 1, 2024 at 11:59 PM. Decisions on applications will be sent on March 8, 2024. There will be an information session on Zoom for all selected applicants one week prior to the event on Friday, March 15, 2024.
Contact Chasz Griego (cgriego@andrew.cmu.edu) with any questions about the hackathon or serving as a team lead.
