Three Minute Thesis (3MT) - Preliminary Round #2 Online
Three Minute Thesis (3MT) is an internationally recognized competition that challenges Ph.D. students to present a compelling oration on their thesis and its significance in just 3 minutes, in language that anyone can understand. 3MT is not an exercise in trivializing or ‘dumbing-down’ research but requires students to consolidate their ideas, crystallize their research discoveries and capture the imagination of their audience.
All 3MT competitors will be scheduled to compete in a preliminary round. These qualifying competitions will occur in-person in IDeATe Studio B within Hunt Library between January 24 and February 9, 2023 from 5:00 - 6:30 pm Eastern Time. Winners of preliminary rounds go on to compete in-person in the CMU 3MT Championship, on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm EST.
Preliminary Rounds are free and open to the public to attend. Registration is required. Please note that all campus visitors who wish to participate in any event must adhere to all current COVID-19 mitigation requirements.
