Discipline-Based Education Research (DbER) Part 1: Introduction Online

Research on teaching and learning tells us that evidence-based tools and practices can enhance the impact on student learning, offer better experiences to students, and take our teaching to the next level. Discipline-based education research (DBER) maintains that generalizable knowledge about teaching and learning is most effective when paired with a deep understanding of discipline-specific learning challenges and instructional strategies. This workshop offers an introduction to DBER concepts and literatures and provides an overview to the field. Subsequent workshops in this series will describe education research methods (Mar 16) and project planning (Apr 20).
