C-MAP/CMARC 55 Years Later: Affirming Black and Underrepresented Minority Student Experiences
Join the University Libraries, the Carnegie Mellon Black Alumni Association (CMBAA), and former CMARC staff for a C-MAP/CMARC Archives Open House. With a nod to the annual CMARC open houses of the past, travel down memory lane with us as we celebrate the legacy of these communities.
For 55 years, C-MAP, the Carnegie Mellon Action Project, and later renamed the Carnegie Mellon Advising Resource Center provided a space to gather, find support, and build community for Black and underrepresented students at a predominantly white institution.
Since 2018, the Libraries’ University Archives has been the home of the C-MAP/CMARC Archives. We’ll be bringing out photo albums, memorabilia and other historical documents related to Buggy, SPIRIT, Hoopla, SAMS, Origins, and more.
Archivists will be on hand to discuss how your archives are being preserved and how you can contribute your own memories to the collection. Drop in to reminisce, reconnect with old friends, and see your archival legacy.
This event is free and open to all CMU community members and will also take place on Friday, April 14, 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
