Artificial Intelligence with MATLAB
The Matlab workshop will give an introduction to Artificial Intelligence using Matlab followed by a special talk “What We Learnt From Deploying Robots in Commercial Applications”:
With the rise of robotic startups led by young Ph.D.s in recent years, we hear a lot of personal experiences in the difference between developing a robot that works in a lab and developing one that works in real world. Dr. You Wu is here to share his story designing and deploying robots that went inside and inspected city underground water pipes. He is also going to discuss his “I wish I knew” list--the good and bad practices he learnt from his own experience and other robotics companies.
Dr. You Wu is the Principal Robotics Industry Manager at MathWorks, advising industrial organizations in robot development processes and engineering collaboration. Dr. Wu received his Ph.D. degrees in robotics from MIT. Before joining MathWorks in 2020, he was CTO of Watchtower Robotics, a startup that deployed inspection robots into municipal water pipe networks. He was the recipient of many innovation awards, including Dyson Design Award and Forbes 30 Under 30.
