Turning Big Ideas Into Issue One: Launching Your Open Access Journal Online
Find yourself in a scholarly niche that remains underrepresented in publications? Hoping to further democratize scholarly research in your field? Already managing the sharing of media that feels ready to transition to a more academic output? Generally feeling inspired to launch your own open access journal? This event is for you!
This workshop’s goal is to help you draft a roadmap for your prospective new open access journal. Together, we’ll review OA models, discuss guidelines for research integrity, strategize for submission management, and identify ways to increase accessibility and discoverability from the very beginning. Throughout the workshop, we will also highlight relevant services offered by the Carnegie Mellon University Libraries, including: copyright consultation, platform support, hosting, indexing, metrics, and more.
NOTE:
Suggested audience includes faculty and staff who are considering launching a new academic open access journal. Students with an interest in the field of publishing more broadly might also find the material and discussion useful. No previous experience in publishing or open access is required, but this webinar will assume a basic familiarity with the academic publishing process. Please bring your questions!
