Remixing the book: from Medieval Manuscripts to Meme Culture

What does it mean to remix a text? While we often think of books as standalone objects, people have been making and remaking books for hundreds of years–often cutting up and modifying things like manuscripts, images, and remixing them into new objects entirely.

Join us to talk about the history of remaking, remixing and collage–from medieval manuscript to memes! Workshop participants will not only learn about the history of the remixed codex, but will also be able to create their own remixed objects from images of manuscripts from online repositories!
