Discover your love zone: using GIS buffering tools
As part of Love Data Week, Celebrate Saint Valentine's Day with a unique geospatial twist!
This interactive workshop uses geocoding and buffer analysis to explore how geographical distance shapes social interactions and relationships. Participants will create and analyze "Love Zones" to visualize proximity and connection in human networks for their most visited places in Pittsburgh. This activity offers a fun spin on love and spatial dynamics.
This workshop is designed for beginners. You can download the QGIS software on the QGIS.org website. We recommend installing the Long Term Version.
Please bring a laptop and have the software installed before the workshop. If you are having trouble installing, you can make a Virtual or In-Person appointment and we can help you. Note: We won’t be able to help you install it at the workshop so please plan ahead.
