How to make nice maps: using QGIS Layout

How to make nice maps: using QGIS Layout

This 1.5-hour workshop is designed to equip participants with the skills to create visually compelling maps that effectively communicate a narrative. Participants will learn how to apply principles of cartographic design, select and implement appropriate color palettes, and integrate storytelling elements to enhance the impact of their maps. The workshop will also cover techniques for adapting maps for different platforms, including print, web, and interactive media. Through hands-on practice and case studies, attendees will develop the ability to craft maps that not only look good but also tell a meaningful story, tailored to various audiences and formats.

This workshop is designed for beginners. You can download the QGIS software on the QGIS.org website. We recommend installing the Long Term Version. If needed please follow this video tutorial (beta verion any feedback is welcome)

Please bring a laptop and have the software installed prior to the workshop. If you are having trouble installing, you can make a Virtual or In-Person appointment and we can help you. Note: We won’t be able to help you install it at the workshop so please plan ahead.
