Python for Beginner Data Science: Basics and Starting with Data

This workshop is for beginners and those looking to apply Python to data analysis. You'll first learn how to start projects, work in Jupyter Notebooks, and perform basic operations in Python. Then, we'll cover Python data types and how to store and work with data. Finally, you'll use a Python library called Pandas to read, explore, and summarize tabular data. The content of this workshop is adapted from this series of lessons and uses data from the Portal Project Teaching Database: https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.1314459

This workshop will be held in-person, in the Den at Sorrells Library. This will be a hands-on workshop, so we encourage you to bring your laptop, and please download the Python distribution, Anaconda, prior to arriving at the workshop.
