dSHARP Gerrymandering Series: Finding & Using Data for Elections Research

This workshop will introduce you to resources for finding and using various sources of US elections and demographic data. Elections data can oftentimes be found at the county and district level for national, state, and local elections and the American Community Survey provides useful data for understanding the role of community characteristics in elections and gerrymandering. We will focus on which resources to use for various types of elections and demographic data and how to query, manipulate, and export data for further analysis.
