The Role of Libraries in Geography and GIS Education

We hope to build a network of libraries, data centers, and educators to enable effective teaching, consultation, and outreach efforts around spatial literacy education. We will focus on topics ranging from how to design appropriate courses, avenues to establish and support consultation spaces, and host successful events. In order to develop these avenues, we seek to bring together librarians (working in university, k-12, and public libraries) and community members from across Pennsylvania, and beyond, to engage in discussions of how they implement spatial literacy or GIS instruction at their institutions, and how they might expand these offerings in the future.
