SUMMARY:Worth 1000 Words: Research Image Workflows
DESCRIPTION:Have you come home from an archive with hundreds of snapshots
on your phone\, and weren't sure what to do with them next? Have you wanted
to include someone else's image to illustrate a paper\, but realized you
couldn't remember where you downloaded it from or if you had the rights to
reuse it?\n\nIf your research relies on images --- whether they're part of
what you're studying or what you're using to help communicate in your work
--- this workshop is for you. Learn how to manage images throughout the
research lifecycle\, from image production or acquisition\, through their
storage and organization\, to publication. In addition to outlining
research image best practices and highlighting available Libraries
resources\, we will provide a brief introduction to Tropy\, which combines
many of these workflows into a single desktop tool. \n\n \n\nTopics
 introduced include:\n\n\n	image metadata\n	copyright\, fair use\, and
 permissions\n	ethics of image editing\n	preparing archival-ready
files\n	best practices for organizing collections\n	describing images
 (captions and alt text)\n
