Collaborative Design with Penpot (Digital Project Design Series)

Collaborative Design with Penpot (Digital Project Design Series)

Penpot is a collaborative design tool, primarily used for UI mockups. We’ll learn the basics of its interface as we explore Penpot's potential as a whiteboard tool for this exercise, working together to map out a project narrative for a collection’s digital project.

This event is part of a series of workshops on Digital Project Design. Please register separately for individual events:

Registration is required. There are 48 seats available.

No experience necessary for this workshop. Because Penpot is a web app, you do need internet connection, but you do not need to install anything on your machine; please make sure your laptop's browser is up to date (Chrome recommended, Firefox and Webkit browsers also supported). Mouse recommended for navigating the graphic interface. (See also lending options if you don’t have one.)

We’ll talk through some very basic design principals and introduce the platform. Penpot has a similar interface and set of features to Figma, but, unlike Figma, is open source and has more generous offerings for free accounts. It can also be used for brainstorming-type collaboration (as we will be doing in this session), similar to tools like Miro, but, again, offers more to free users.

We will all be working in an existing shared file, and any necessary resources will be provided. Those looking for assistance with their own projects are encouraged to schedule additional consultation time with the instructor.
